About the Position:

The Company is seeking a hands-on, experienced, proactive, and driven Corporate Controller to build, manage, and scale the Company’s accounting and finance organization, to serve as the point of contact for the organization’s accounting and financial reporting activities and act as the primary contact for the Company’s external auditors. The Controller will be a key partner to the Chief Financial Officer, Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, and Manager of Technical Accounting and will advise executive leadership on important financial decisions.

The Controller will be responsible for ensuring consistency and accuracy of financial reporting across Voyager and its majority owned subsidiaries. Responsibilities include daily oversight of corporate accounting and external tax resources and coordination with Technical Accounting to develop, adopt and maintain Company policies in accordance with GAAP. The Corporate Controller will be responsible for delivering transaction processing activities in an effective and efficient manner and providing financial information related to business performance to support the business. This role is critical in providing information and advising executive leadership on important financial decisions related to the Company’s financial results.

Responsibilities:

 

Operations:

  • Hands on leadership to drive transformational change in the Controllership group in the short to medium term
  • Propose and implement department structure and responsibilities as the business scales over time.
  • Oversight of shared service accounting for certain majority owned subsidiaries
  • Manage the integration of newly acquired companies and adoption of Company accounting policies
  • Sponsorship of finance transformation projects related to Controllership

 

Internal Controls

  • Manage Controllership function that record transactions, maintain books and records to produce financial results at the operating level
  • Develop and manage accounting policies, procedures, and controls; work with Technical Accounting to oversee compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Continuously improve internal controls, accounting guidelines, chart of account infrastructure and financial reporting to efficiently support business scale and activities
  • Build out a comprehensive internal control environment for eventual compliance with SOX

 

Financial Reporting:

  • Define, initiate, and execute month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close process supporting the preparation of financial reporting packages and financial statements in compliance with company guidelines and US GAAP; involve Technical Accounting as appropriate
  • Deliver transaction processing activities in a timely and efficient manner and provide financial information relating to business performance to support the business
  • Present regular financial results to key internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop reports and discuss financial statements at legal entity and consolidated entity levels in accordance with specifications for reporting at that level

 

Audit

  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors; manage the quarterly reviews and annual audit cadence
  • Engage auditors as appropriate with material acquisitions, customer contracts or non-routine transactions

 

FP&A

  • Work with the Financial Planning & Analysis Director to prepare the Company’s annual operating budget; including ongoing actual to budget comparisons and variance analysis
  • Analyze, provide guidance, and communicate the budget and forecast at a consolidated level to the CFO, CEO and the Board of Directors with the partnership of FP&A
  • Work with FP&A and Technical Accounting to draft scripts for the earnings calls and Investor Presentations
  • Work with FP&A and Technical Accounting to develop pro forma reporting for acquisition activity as required for external reporting

 

Tax

  • Manage and comply with local, state, provincial and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings; manage compliance, audits, and disputes
  • As the business scales, build out internal tax function that complements and supports external resources
  • Work with legal and HR to address national and global growth ambitions in a tax efficient manner

 

Qualifications:

 

Leadership / Interpersonal:

  • Strong ability to cope with complexity and change; hands on, proactive leader

Functional:

  • Recent experience with accounting management in a public company environment is a must
  • Prior experience supporting IPO / public offering, mergers and acquisitions process or other financial transactions is a plus
  • Strong industry knowledge is a plus, but not required

 

Technical:

  • Strong accounting background with thorough knowledge of current U.S. GAAP required
  • Experience with ERP Systems, such as NetSuite, is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets and reporting tools
  • Advanced excel and MS Office skills required

 

Education / Experience:

  • 15+ years of general accounting experience ideally with both Big Four or public accounting experience; at least 5 years as a Manager, Director or Controller
  • US CPA license required
